InterAct’s Computer Aided Dispatch, Geographic Information System and Law Records Management Solution Improve Officer, Firefighter, and Public Safety

Winston-Salem, NC, August, 2010 - InterAct Public Safety Systems, a leading provider of safety and security software used by government agencies as well as private sector businesses, today announced that Marion County, Mississippi, has deployed its first computer aided dispatch system, InterActCAD, geographic information system, InterActGIS, and law records management solution, InterActLaw.  Through InterAct’s partnership with AT&T, Marion County is now able to improve its officer and fire department response time, resulting in increased public safety for all citizens.

During their exhaustive search for public safety software, Marion County’s Board of Supervisors and 911 Board of Commissioners surveyed three neighboring agencies using InterAct’s software, each of which resulted in 100% positive feedback.  These survey results, along with a detailed demonstration of InterActCAD, pointed to InterAct Public Safety Systems as the clear leader in the industry and the right choice for Marion.   The first such system for the County, entirely purchased through the savings of its 9-1-1 funding surcharges from resident phone bills and not tax payer dollars, was chosen for its ease of use, user-friendly interface, and overall efficiency.  All network services will be maintained under AT&Ts warrantee.

“We knew we wanted to upgrade our public safety systems for years, and as such have been saving our dedicated 9-1-1 funds, at no additional cost to the tax payer, for this very purpose,” said Derek Smith, Communications Manager, Marion County.  “As we dispatch for seven fire departments and two law enforcement agencies, InterAct Public Safety Systems was the obvious choice for us.  With InterAct software, our dispatchers can now easily identify the unit that can get to an incident the fastest, as well as take the exhaustive paperwork out of the process, both saving valuable time.”

“Mr. Smith continued, “The next project we will be looking to, will be to acquire and install a mobile data system.  Combined with our current upgrades, a mobile data system will allow us to not only send incident details directly to the in-cruiser laptops freeing up emergency radio traffic, but also will provide our officers in the field with the ability to search a number of criminal information databases, including NCIC.”

These products are integral components of the InterAct Connections Framework™, a comprehensive set of integrated applications, processes and systems designed to support an emergency response operations’ full incident lifecycle through a seamlessly connected workflow. Known as the most feature-rich, easy-to-use CAD software, InterActCAD makes it easy for dispatchers to quickly collect and evaluate critical incident information and respond in the best way possible. InterActGIS is a dynamic dispatch mapping application that displays wired and wireless caller locations, landmarks, aerial and satellite imagery, specific structure photos, and other geo-based items necessary to direct a successful response. InterActLaw is a fully featured law records management solution that allows officers to do reporting on their in-cruiser laptops, which provides increased visibility of the police force, faster resolution of cases, on-the-go retrieval of clear and comprehensive reports and reduced roadside down-time related citations.

“Marion County is clearly dedicated to ensuring the community’s safety,” said InterAct’s president and chief executive officer, John McNulty. “We’re proud that InterAct software is playing role in enhancing the safety and security of their community.”
